Soumission LCM

A Grok project that turns HTML templates into quote PDFs. Free account, mic, Gmail connector, memory for the last number. The PDF only shows up after an ok.

Grok: Mini Excavation LCM project, quote prompt and mic in the input bar
Type “devis”. Grok asks for the client email. The mic sits in the bar.

The contractor gets requests by form, phone, or email. He needed a quote fast, with the right amounts, no invented prices, and no retyping the client into three tools.

The design isn’t an app. It’s the chat thread. One turn = one step. Grok doesn’t skip ahead. The PDF only exists after a clear ok. The Gmail connector reads the inbox, drafts, or sends when he asks.

Four turns

Same script as the client how-to. No jargon, one screenshot, four moves. It fits on a card, like a protocol:

Type “devis”, then:

1. The client
   paste the form, read Gmail, or take phone details
   → Grok stops if something is missing

2. Say the work and the prices
   e.g. mini excavator 8 h at $135, truck $250
   → no made-up rates

3. Read the table
   wrong → say what to change
   good → type ok

4. The PDF appears
   Gmail draft or send with the attachment

Thread design — one turn, one step

Turn 1: the client. Paste a form, dictate phone details, or let Grok read the email in Gmail. If the phone or address is missing, it asks again and stops.

Turn 2: the work and the prices, typed or spoken. Example: mini excavator 8 h at $135, truck $250. Until a quantity or amount is in, nothing moves on.

Turn 3: a table in the chat. Lines, subtotal, GST, QST, total. Fix it out loud or in text, new table, again until ok.

Turn 4: only then, the PDF. Then Gmail: draft with the attachment, or send if he confirms.

Free account, mic, Gmail

It works on a free Grok account. Voice mode works in the truck or on site. He dictates hours and amounts, corrects out loud, says ok into the mic. The Gmail connector is wired into the same project: read a request, prep the reply, send the quote without leaving the thread.

Projects, files, memory

Everything lives in a Grok project called “Mini Excavation LCM”, not a lost chat thread. The files panel holds the skill, the logo, the HTML template, and project memory — including the last quote number. From one quote to the next, the counter keeps going.

A dedicated project. Threads stay nested underneath.
Project Files panel: devis folder, .grok, and quote PDF
Project files: skill, template, generated PDFs.

Memory is a file. Open project_memory.md in the tree. You can see where it lives. Not hidden: the last number is readable, editable by hand if needed.

HTML → print → PDF

Once the table is approved, the skill fills an HTML template (LCM brand, line items, Quebec taxes). Grok shows the page. Browser print makes the PDF. No Word, no magic export: a web sheet + print.

Print rules hide the toolbar and keep the brand colours:

@media print {
  .toolbar { display: none !important; }
  body { background: #fff; }
  .sheet {
    box-shadow: none;
    border: 0;
    -webkit-print-color-adjust: exact;
    print-color-adjust: exact;
  }
}

Print styles for the template

When the page is ready, a button opens the browser’s PDF dialog:

document.getElementById('print')?.addEventListener('click', () => {
  window.print();
});

Print button → browser PDF dialog

The amounts stay the ones he gave. No invented prices. The PDF waits for ok. The email waits for his confirmation (draft or send).

Less retyping

Before: open the email, paste the client into a template, retype the lines, recalc taxes, export, attach, send again. Now: the thread reads Gmail when needed, asks the questions, builds the table, outputs the PDF after ok, then puts the message back in Gmail. The number carries from quote to quote. All inside Grok, even out loud, on a free plan.
